ABOUT THE DONALD HEITER COMMUNITY CENTER

  OUR MISSION
The mission of the Donald L. Heiter Community Center, a non-profit organization, is to strive to be a center of the community, providing innovative responsive programs ad welcoming facilities with broad volunteer and financial support from the community. The Center addresses community concerns, and supports the wellness of the community for all of its people.
REVISED MAY 2006
ADOPTED JUNE 2006

  OUR HISTORY
The Donald L. Heiter Community Center began in August 1993. The established Lewisburg Area Community Center was renamed for local police chief Donald L. Heiter, who had a heart for youth and was instrumental in starting the center. The community center began with individuals from the community forming a Board in order to develop an environment where local youth could interact responsibly. The Board also was interested in utilizing this source as an intergenerational community organization. One woman, Yvonne Morgan, suggested using her print shop for band nights and after school programs. This led to the DHCC having various programs for all ages. The DHCC is a valued community resource.
