The Donald L. Heiter Community Center (DHCC) opened in August 1993. At that time, the existing Lewisburg Area Community Center was renamed for local police chief Donald L. Heiter, who had a heart for young people and was instrumental in starting the Center. The DHCC was founded by XXX. This group became our Board of Directors, and they began by creating an environment in which local youth could interact responsibly. One individual, Yvonne Morgan, suggested using her print shop for band nights and after- school programs. This led to the DHCC having various programs for all ages. From there the DHCC became the intergenerational community organization and valued resource it is today.
